THE Myanmar national women’s football team will face the national football teams of the Philippines and Malaysia in the 30th South East Asian Games, which are scheduled to start from 28 November at the Binan Football Stadium in Laguna, the Philippines.
The drawing ceremony for the women’s football tourney for the SEA Games was held yesterday in Pasay City, the Philippines.
Team Myanmar has been placed in Group A with the host team, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Myanmar’s best opponent, Thailand, has been placed in Group B with ASEAN football giant Viet Nam and Indonesia.Speaking about the drawing ceremony, the head coach of the women’s national football team, U Win Thu Moe, said that he was pleased with the result of the draw.
“We will first play a group match with the host Philippines team, and the match will be a decisive match for my team to enter the next stage. We are hoping to reach the final match. If we reach the semifinal, we will have five days for preparation, and that will be enough time for our team, and it is good,” the head coach added.
Team Myanmar has been undergoing a special camp and training session in Yangon since 16 September, and it will also play friendly matches with team China in November, according to the Myanmar Football Federation.
The group stage matches for the women’s football tourney will be held from 28 November to 4 December. The semi-finals will take place on 6 December, while the third place and final matches have been scheduled for 9 December.
