15 tons of cocaine seized at US port

US authorities have seized about 15 tons of cocaine from a cargo ship at a Philadelphia port in what they say is one of the largest hauls of the drug in the country's history.

Law enforcement agents in the state of Pennsylvania said on Tuesday that they found the cocaine in containers on board the ship.

They say it has a street value of about one billion dollars.

Investigators have arrested two crew members of the cargo vessel for their suspected involvement in smuggling the contraband. They say an international smuggling ring may be behind the shipment.

Local media say the ship arrived in Philadelphia after making port calls in Colombia and Panama.

More than 530 kilograms of cocaine was confiscated in Philadelphia in March.
