12 pilgrims injured as vehicle overturns in KhinU Township

12 people sustained severe injuries after a vehicle heading to Anyar Thiha Taw Pagoda overturned near a rural bridge in KhinU Township, Sagaing Region on 7 March.

A vehicle with 20 pilgrims was on the way to Anyar Thiha Taw Pagoda to take part in a rice offering ceremony of the historic pagoda. The car flipped over on a mountain slope, injuring 12 out of the 20 people on board. The injured people were sent to a nearby rural hospital for medical treatment.

 

The motorist named Nay Htet Lin, 22, Gwaygon Village, Kanbalu Township was arrested and is being questioned over reckless driving by the local police.—Chit San (KhinU)
