ACCORDING to a statement issued by the Pyithu Hluttaw, a six-member Information Team was formed on 18 June to provide systematic briefings to news organizations on the Hluttaw’s activities and initiatives.

The team will be led by Dr Nanda Hla Myint, with U Thein Tun Oo serving as deputy leader. Four other Pyithu Hluttaw representatives have been appointed as members.

Dr Nanda Hla Myint said the team was established to keep the public informed about the Hluttaw’s work and daily activities, and to respond promptly to misinformation and false reports relating to the legislature.

To ensure the timely and accurate dissemination of information through the media, two team members will take turns providing daily summaries of Pyithu Hluttaw proceedings to journalists covering parliamentary sessions.

The statement added that media enquiries will be handled in person at the Pyithu Hluttaw Media Corner on sitting days, where regular press briefings will be conducted. — TWA/KNN
