Indonesia is targeting 19.1 million foreign tourist arrivals in 2027 to support economic growth and the tourism sector, Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana has said.
"We are committed to optimizing all available resources so that tourism can make a greater contribution to the economy, job creation, foreign exchange earnings, and public welfare," Widiyanti said during a meeting with the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
The Indonesian government aims to raise foreign exchange earnings from international visitors by 16 percent to 28.6 billion U.S. dollars, with average spending projected at 1,497 dollars per visit.
By 2027, the tourism sector is expected to contribute up to 4.8 percent to gross domestic product and attract 3.8 billion dollars in investment, said the minister.
