THE Embassy of India to Myanmar announced that it has issued Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards, which include lifelong multiple-entry visas to India, to a Buddhist monk and a civilian from Myanmar.

The Ambassador of India to Myanmar, Mr Abhay Thakur, presented an OCI card to the Venerable Dr Paññasami during a ceremony held in Mandalay on 4 June 2026.

The event was attended by representatives of the All Myanmar Hindu Central Council, the Sanatan Dharma Swayamsevak Sangh and the Arya Samaj. During a separate ceremony held in PyinOoLwin, the Ambassador presented another OCI card to U Tin Latt, Chairman of the Mandalay Region Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MRCCI).

Both events were attended by Ambassador Mr Abhay Thakur and Consul-General Sundeep Kaushal. The OCI card serves as a lifelong multiple-entry visa to India, providing recipients with special privileges to engage in business, trade, education and financial activities in India.

The embassy’s statement added that detailed information regarding the OCI card application process is available on the Government of India’s official OCI Services website. — TWA/KZL
