Authorities have de­tained two foreign nationals involved in telecom fraud and other criminal activities.

 

The two detainees in­cluded one national from the Russian Federation and one from the Philippines, all of whom had entered the areas around Myawady il­legally. They are currently under investigation pend­ing deportation.

 

 

To ensure their swift repatriation, a joint depart­mental team is currently collecting the necessary personal data and re­cords. U Kaung San Linn, Chairman of the Myawady District Management and Administration Committee and District Administrator, alongside other officials, inspected the process and coordinated essential re­quirements.

 

From 30 January 2025 to 7 June 2026, a total of 14,703 illegal foreign en­trants were detained in Myawady Township. Of these, 13,521 individuals have been systematically deported to their respective countries via Thailand in accordance with legal pro­cedures.

A total of 662 individu­als have been prosecuted under immigration and drug-related laws, while the remaining 520 are awaiting deportation and are being properly accommodated and managed.

 

The government con­tinues to cooperate actively with neighbouring coun­tries, regional partners, and international organ­izations to combat online scam operations, identify and take action against those involved, and facil­itate the repatriation of trafficked and distressed foreign nationals as swiftly as possible. — MNA/KZL
