THE State Administra­tion Council held the Kathina robe-offering ceremony 2024 at Sasana Maha Beikman of Uppatasanti Pago­da in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning, with the attendance of SAC Chairman Prime Min­ister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla.

 

The Senior General paid homage to the Buddha image in the building and offered alms in the alms-bowl, flow­ers, water, oil lights and fruits.

 

He viewed round display of the Kathina robes and of­ferings to be donated to Wa­zirananda Thubawdayon Mon­astery in Ottarathiri Township.

 

The Senior General and his wife donated Kathina robes and alms to Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Pa­tron of Thanlyin Minkyaung Pahtamapyan Buddhism Learning Centre Aggamaha Pandita Aggamaha Saddham­majotikadhaja Dr Bhaddan­ta Candima Bhivamsa and Upaukkattha Joint Sanghara­ja of Shwegyin Nikaya Abbot of Wazirananda Thubawday­on Monastery of Ottarathiri Township Abhidhaja Maharat­thaguru Rector Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Nandamala Bhi­vamsa, respectively.

 

SAC Vice-Chairman Depu­ty Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe donated Kathi­na robes and alms to SSMNC Secretary Mandalay Dhamma Thameikdi Monastery Sayadaw.

 

The Council Secretary and his wife, the Joint Secretary and his wife, council members and their wives offered Kathi­na robes and alms to members of the Sangha.

 

The Sayadaw of Ohntaw Monastery in Pyinmana and the Sayadaw of Ngwetaung Tawya Monastery in Tatkon conducted a question-and-an­swer session on Kathina af­fairs.

 

The Senior General and the congregation listened to Kathina Anumodana preached by the Rector Sayadaw. SS­MNC Secretary Presiding Pa­tron of new Masoeyein mon­astery’s Dhamma Thameikdi Monastery Sayadaw Ag­gamaha Pandita Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Ma­hadhammakathika Bahujana­hitadhara Bhaddanta Vasettha Bhivamsa delivered a sermon, and congregation shared mer­its gained.

 

After the ceremony, the Senior General, his wife and the congregation offered meals to members of the Sangha led by Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayad­aw.

 

Also present at the cer­emony were Union-level dig­nitaries, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and offi­cials.

 

At the ceremony, alms worth K53,233,340 and cash of K80,690,800 for nine prerequi­sites were donated to members of the Sangha. — MNA/TTA
