Japan's health ministry reported 908 new cases of the coronavirus in Tokyo on Thursday. The daily figure is up 228 from a week earlier.
The ministry also confirmed one death. The number of seriously ill people was four, the same as the day before.
Nationwide, the ministry reported 8,485 new cases and 40 deaths on Thursday.
The number of new cases was up 758 from a week earlier, but has remained below the 10,000-mark for the 15th day in a row.
