No immediate reports of damages or casualties were available following a slight earthquake which was recorded on January 17 night, according to a source from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter inside Myanmar jolted about 10 miles southeast of Sinbo, Kachin State. It was recorded at 8:12 p.m. on January 17 at a latitude of 24.65°N, and longitude of 97.12°E, with a depth of 5 kilometers and about 64 miles southwest of the Myitkyina seismological observatory, the DMH announced.
