Zipair Tokyo to start flights to Seoul

Japanese low-cost carrier Zipair Tokyo plans to launch passenger flights to Seoul as early as this month.

Sources have told NHK that the airline will apply for approval to South Korean aviation authorities.

The route would connect Narita, near Tokyo, to Seoul.

Authorities have started to gradually ease travel restrictions between the two neighbors.

From Thursday, they began allowing business people on short- and long-term stays and those traveling for education-related reasons to travel between the two countries.

Zipair is Japan Airlines' new startup.

It launched operations in June with cargo-only flights using passenger planes.

The coronavirus pandemic forced it to postpone the start of passenger flight services, originally scheduled for May.
