SHAN United and Yangon Unit­ed secured victories in the 2025 -2026 season Myanmar National League (MNL) as the postponed Match 16 fixture and Match 17 second day were played on 10 February.

 

In the postponed Match 16 played at Thuwunna Youth Training Centre, Shan United defeated Ayeyawady United by three goals to one. The match had been rescheduled due to Shan United’s remaining group-stage fixtures in the ASEAN Club Championship. With a flawless performance in the postponed match, Shan United continued their close title race with league leaders Yangon United.

 

Despite both teams fielding most of their key players, Shan United dominated the match after scoring twice within the opening 15 minutes. Bakayoko opened the scoring from a cor­ner kick in the seventh minute, followed by a goal from striker Sa Aung Pyae in 15 minutes, giving Shan United a two-goal lead at half-time. Two minutes into the second half, Ye Min Thu add­ed the third goal, again from a corner kick. Ayeyawady United pulled one back through Zin Min Shine in 90+3 minutes.

 

On the second day of Match 17, Yangon United edged Thitsa Arman by two goals to one, while Rakhine United and Maha Unit­ed shared a two-all draw. Yangon United were reduced to ten men in the first half and also conceded the opening goal, forcing them to chase the game. However, they fought back to secure a late win­ning goal, marking their sixth consecutive victory under new head coach Yuki.

 

On the first day of Match 17, held on 9 February, Dagon Star United defeated ISPE FC by three goals to one, while Han­thawady United beat Yadanabon United by one goal to nil.

 

The third day of Match 17 will be held on 14 February, with Yadanabon set to face Shan Unit­ed at Thiha Dipa Ground, while Ayeyawady United will take on Dagon Port at Thuwunna Youth Training Centre. — Ko Nyi Lay/ KZL
