Two seriously injured in oil tanker fire in Monywa

Two men were injured in an oil tanker fire in Monywa, Sagaing Region on 5 February, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

 

The fire broke out while diesel was being transferred from an oil bowser to an oil tanker at a jetty in Monywa at about 4 p.m. on 5 February. The oil tanker named “Shwe Myintmo” is 113 ft. long, 21 ft. wide and 9 inch draught. The fire is believed to have started from a kitchen of the oil tanker and consumed an oil storage that holds about 1,000 gallons of diesel. Two crewmembers identified as U Myo Win, 51 years of age and U Kyaw Soe, 46 years old were critically hurt in the incident.

 

The injured people have been transferred to Mandalay People’s Hospital from a public hospital in Monywa. An investigation into the case is ongoing by the local police station.—MOHA
