Two jade scavengers injured in collapse of earth heaps in Hpakant

Two jade scavengers were injured due to the collapse of heaps of earth disposed by three jade mines.

The collapse of earth occurred on 4 February at 9 pm near Lonekhin village in Hpakant Township. The disposed earth with 200 feet long, 15 feet wide and 40 feet high by Jade Power, Seven Star and Win Paing Kyaw caved in and the collapse forced two jade scavengers out of 75 fell into a pool with 50 feet deep and one mile wide.

 Zaw Min Tun of Malaung village and Than Zaw who of Hmawsi village, who fell into victims were rescued and admitted to the Lonekhin stationary hospital. Local authorities and social organizations are investigating whether there are any missing jade scavengers or not.
