State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi leaves for Thailand to attend ASEAN Summit

At the invitation of General Prayut Chan-o-cha (Ret.), Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, left for Bangkok, Thailand by special flight from Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon to attend the 34th ASEAN Summit.

The State Counsellor and party were seen off by Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman Dr. Myo Aung and wife, Chief of Myanmar Police Force Police Lt-Gen Aung Win Oo, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak and officials at the Nay Pyi Taw International Airport.

 

The State Counsellor was accompanied by Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

The State Counsellor and party reached Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok, Thailand at local standard time 2:55 p.m. and were welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Thailand General Prawit Wongsuwan, Union Minister U Thaung Tun who went ahead to Thailand to attend the meeting, Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Myo Myint Than, Military Attache Brig-Gen Khin Zaw and officials at the airport.

 

From there the State Counsellor and party left by motorcade for Okura Prestige Hotel where she will be residing during her stay in Bangkok. — MNA (Translated by Zaw Min)
