Shwekyonthar resort opened in Kyaukmyaung Township

A ceremony to open Shwekyonethar resort, located at island in the Irrawaddy river, took place in Seepinkyone village, Kyaukmyaung Township in Sagaing Region on 31 December.

 

The ceremony was held in conjunction with the meals offering to members of the Sangha, followed by entertainments and others.

 

The entrance fee of the recreation facility is set at K 1,000 per person.The resort was dotted with sand sculptures and others on the natural sand beach, made by local people.

 

It was designed to promote socio-economic status of local people, provide the services to generate more income and to conserve Irrawaddy dolphins. The income fetched from the resort camp will go to the development of local people, according to Sagaing Tourism Development Committee.

 

It can be accessible by boat from Singu and Kyaukmyaung Townships. –Ko Min (Indaw)
