The Department of Social Welfare under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement has been providing Ks. 10,000 to a senior citizen above 90 years of age monthly under its social pension programme.
The department has also lowered eligibility age for pension payments to 85 from 90 years since this December. The cash assistance was presented to elderly people once in three months. The provision furnished by the Department of Social Welfare for the elderly people was presented to some senior citizens by officials from the General Administration Department in Mongkoe Town, Shan State today on a door to door basis.—Mongkoe IPRD
