The 15th regular session of second Pyidaungsu Hluttaw held its 16th day meeting yesterday, debating the articles and sub-articles in the second bill to amend the State Constitution.
MP U Sai Ngon Sai Hein from Maukmai constituency opposed the proposal to amend sub-article (k) of Article number (25) in the table of bill for removing the Minister for Border Affairs from the members of the National Defence and Security Council.
He said the ministry has to collect update information about border areas for peace, stability and development sectors to provide suggestions in important affairs of the nation.
Pyithu Hluttaw Representative of Tatmadaw Brig-Gen Win Moe also objected to amendment of sub-article (b) of Article 396 in relation to recalling a representative of the Hluttaw with a minimum of one per cent out of the original voters of the electorate of the relevant constituency by submitting the complaint to the Union Election Commission.
He added the provision is fair to both the Hluttaw representatives and the voters to prevent breaching of law like high treason.
MP U Khin Maung Thi from Loilem constituency opposed the amendment of sub-article (d) of Article 6 in the Chapter 1 of the State Constitution as it is important for political parties to exercise disciplines in the path of democracy.
MP U Sai Thiha Kyaw from Mongyai constituency supported the amendment of sub-article (b) of Article 396 from the minimum one per cent of regional voters into the 20 per cent to avoid facing against frequent complaints.
Some other amendments for sub-articles and articles were also discussed by 18 Hluttaw representatives.
