Police seize drugs, homemade gun from suspected drug dealer in Hsiseng

Thousands of stimulant tablets and weapons were confiscated from a suspicious drug dealer in Hsiseng Township, PaO Self-Administered Zone in Southern Shan State on Tuesday.

 

The local police detained a man identified as Maung Maung Oo, 39 years of age from Hsiseng Township on suspicion of trafficking drugs. The suspicious drug dealer confessed that he and his coworker named Sai Naw (alias) Sai Nauk were smuggling drugs and they planned to go to Loikaw to resell the drugs. Following an interrogation, the police searched a vehicle belonging to the suspected drug trafficker.

 

The search of the vehicle led to the discovery of one homemade pistol, one magazine, four bullets, one hand grenade and 9,800 stimulant pills weighing 10.88 grams. The estimated value of the confiscated drugs was Ks. 14.7 million. The suspected drug smuggler has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the local police station.

 

Arrangements are being made by the local police station to arrest another suspicious drug dealer who is still on the run.—Khun Ye Htwe
