Phyu Township sports grounds set to open to public on 3 Jan

A ceremony to open the sports grounds will be held in Phyu Township, Bago Region on 3 January morning to mark the 71st anniversary of Independence Day in conjunction with games, sports events and a photo exhibition.

 

The township sports grounds were constructed on 5.656 acres of land. It has a spectator stand that measures 100 ft. in length, 40 ft. in width and can accommodate 600 fans and an indoor stadium capable of holding 500 spectators. More than Ks. 1,147 million was allotted to carry out improvements for the spectator stand and the indoor stadium. The two private companies began improvements in January 2018 and were completed in June 2018.

 

Phyu Township has been producing outstanding athletes such as hockey player Myint Myint Sein, Sepak takraw player Hsu Myat Yin, boxers May Chit Oo and Ngwe Ni Oo, track and field athletes Phyu Wah Thet and Myint Myint Aye.—Tin Soe (Bago)
