Approximately 70 participants from MHTTR 7-2019 team that is taking part in the long drive contest named “Journey to the Naga Land Rally Sagaing” arrived in Mawlaik Township on 11 January to make a stopover.

They were warmly welcomed by the lawmakers, departmental officials, town elders, and students near an independence monument. The Sagaing regional government has been organizing such kind of event since 2015 with a view to promoting tourism industry in the region. Accompanied by the chairman of the township management committee U Kyaw Soe, members of the driving team visited colonial-era ancient buildings and golf courses.

They also toured an elephant camp where they fed food to elephants, paid homage to a pagoda beside the Mawlaik-Pyaungboke Road and departed to Tamu. The elephant camp was opened with the attention of attracting local and foreign visitors to the area.—IPRD
