Forestry officials seized illegal timber logs worth more than Ks. 2 million in Myohla Town, Kachin State on 9 January.
A group of local authorities comprising officials from the Forest Department and the General Administration Department, policemen from the Forest Police Force, and village administrators led by Township Administrator U Kyaw Naing Oo went to a scene about one mile west of Myohla Town at around 5 p.m. yesterday based on an anonymous tipoff.
They confiscated different sizes of ownerless sewn timber logs weighing 40.17 tons. The confiscated timber logs are currently being kept at a local timber production camp.—Shan Kalay
