Palaw 6 February
A woman was killed and a girl seriously injured in a knife attack in Thingandaw village of Palaw Township, Taninthayi Region on February 5 morning.
Soon after receiving the information, the authorities concerned rushed to the scene to investigate the incident. They were reported that U Cho Myint and Daw Than Htay, a married couple, had unhappy marriage and had been living separately since two months ago. As a consequence, Daw Than They asked a divorce via a village administrator.
Upon disapproval of her behavior, U Cho Myint stabbed Daw Than Htay in her chest and head before stabbing Ma Hnin Eimon, his daughter, in her abdomen while the victims were in Daw Kyin Thwel’s house. Daw Than Htay died on the spot with multiple injuries sustained.
U Cho Myint, the murderer, was arrested by the police who brought him to justice.—Htoo Wai Yan (IPRD)
