Non-Resident Nepali Association holds 7th Asia Pacific Regional Meeting

The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) held its 7th Asia Pacific Regional Meeting, in conjunction with the 2nd Asia Pacific Women’s Meeting, yesterday at the Chatrium Hotel in Yangon.

 

The meeting was attended by Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin.

 

First, Union Minister U Kyaw Tin, Ambassador of Nepal to Myanmar Mr. Bhim Krishna Udas, former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, and officials cut the ceremonial ribbons and opened the event. Then, accompanied by participants, they looked at photographs of the famous Nepali Gawrakha people in Myanmar on display.

 

Afterwards, the national anthems of Myanmar and Nepal were played, and Nepali traditional oil lamps were lit. Nepali traditional dances and Myanmar ethnic traditional dances were also performed at the event.

 

This was followed by the Union Minister making congratulatory remarks. NRNA-Myanmar President U Win Tin (a) S.B Cherty, Mr. Bhim Krishna Udas, and Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat delivered messages of greeting.

 

Next, NRNA representatives discussed achievements, businesses, and social matters of the Nepali Gawrakha people.

 

The 7th Asia Pacific Regional Meeting of NRNA was held on 6 and 7 July, with over 100 Nepalese from Myanmar and over 130 Nepalese from 15 Asia Pacific countries in attendance. This was the first time the meeting was held in Myanmar. The 6th Asia Pacific Regional Meeting was held in Hong Kong.

 

The Non-Resident Nepali Association holds meetings to preserve unity among the non-resident Nepalese Gawrakha and to better serve the countries the non-resident Nepalese are residing in and Nepal. — MNA  (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
