“The visitor arrival was normal in previous months at Ngwehsaung. In this month, the visitor arrival seems large but a visible increase on weekends and public holidays, because it is summer holiday and most of the visitors are families and employees on their company trip and friend groups. For Thingyan, almost all rooms have been booked and all will be full soon. The visitor arrival is likely to mount in this year’s Thingyan,” he said.
Visitors come from different regions and states including Yangon and Mandalay and including the beach, they go to visit Lovers’ Island, Snake Island, Phayathonzu Island, elephant camp, Ngwehsaung Square and Bird Island, he added.
The beach’s visitor arrival is generally large from October to the end of May yearly; however, the beach is empty in monsoon so some hotels are closed during the period, according to residents.
