Myanmar delegation attends AICHR 39th meeting in Indonesia

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Myanmar delegation led by U Mang Hau Thang, Deputy Director-Gen­eral of the ASEAN Affairs De­partment of the Ministry of For­eign Affairs, attended the 39th meeting of the ASEAN Inter­governmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) held from 19 to 22 May in Jakarta, Indonesia.

 

During the meeting, dis­cussions included current developments in ASEAN, in­stitutional matters of AICHR, the drafting of the AICHR Five-Year Work Plan (FYWP) for the 2026-2030 period, and the implementation of AICHR’s priority programmes. These programmes focus on the rights of persons with disabil­ities, children’s rights, disin­formation and misinformation, human rights and police affairs in ASEAN, and business and human rights, among other topics.

 

The Myanmar represent­ative to AICHR provided an update on Myanmar’s ongoing efforts to achieve peace, pros­perity, and democracy while ensuring the rights of all citi­zens. — ASH/TMT
