Union Minister for Construction U Han Zaw participated in the International Conference on Engineering Education Accreditation 2021 via videoconferencing from Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The virtual conference was organized from the headquarters of Myanmar Engineering Council in Lanmadaw Township, Yangon.
Chair of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations Prof Dr Gong Ke, Chair of Washington Accord Executive Committee Em Prof Elizabeth Taylar and experts from China Association for Science and Technology, Myanmar Engineering Council’s patrons, chair and officials, the Ministry of Construction’s Permanent Secretary U Shwe Lay and officials joined the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, the Union Minister said that the Myanmar Engineering Council had established the Engineering Education Accreditation Committee to work on the accreditation of engineering education.
The committee, in cooperation with ASEAN and Asia-Pacific Federation of Engineering Organizations, upgraded the engineering education programmes, organized training courses, and made accreditations.
He talked about the works carried out between 2013 and 2020 that a total of 52 workshops was organized, training was conducted by international institutions, the accreditation programmes were cooperated by all technological universities,
He urged the Myanmar Engineering Council to work on the international quality accreditation activities and engineering CQI, to make practical relations with members and interested organizations, to increase systematic registrations by using best practices, and to expand promotion of engineering education.
Washington Accord Executive Committee Chair Em Prof Elizabeth Taylar and WFEO Chair Prof Dr Gong Ke made remarks at the meeting.
Experts and resource persons read the papers relating to the international conference on engineering education, and attendees raised questions.
