Large haul of drugs seized in some Townships

Police members from Muse Township intercepted a vehicle driven by Aung Oo for inspection in front of Namhpaw Bridge checkpoint near Talung Village, Muse Township on 1 January and seized 11700 stimulant tablets and heroin weighing 0.726 kilogram from him, according to the information released by Myanmar Police Force.

 

Then, policemen from anti-drug squad searched a car driven by Tun Than on Thipaw-Kyaukme  Road near a toll gate in Kyaukme Township, Shan State(North) on 2 January and seized heroin weighing 13.2 kilograms, a mobile phone and K 50000 from him. In a similarly incident on the same day, police member from Anti-Drug Squad a car driven by Aa Phint on Kukaing-Kaungka Road in Kutkai Township in Shan State and confiscated ICE stimulant tablets weighing 5 Kilograms and two mobile phones.

 

Local authorities also raided the house of Law Ta in Napaw Village, Kengtung Township, Shan State on 2 January and seized 16000 stimulant tablets and raw opium weighing 700 grams in the house. Then, Policemen from Anti-Drug Squad raided the house of Ma Sein Nyunt on the same day and confiscated 165 stimulant tablets and raw opium weighing 4.6 kilograms in the house.

 

The authorities filed charges against all suspects under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.—MPF
