Land preparations were carried out with the use of tractors for growing of winter crops—onions and potatoes in Pauk Township, Magway Region.
Farmers in 235 villages of 71 village-tracts along Yaw and Kyaw creeks in Magway Region are relying largely on the growing of onions and potatoes in winter. Potatoes grown in the region are in season early in the month of Nadaw while onions are in season early in the month of Tabaung.
With a welcome change from a traditional farming to mechanized one, land preparations are being made round-the-clock in those villages, saving time and money, said a potato farmer.—NYan Toe (Pauk)
