Indonesian fishing boat and fishermen seized in Kawthoung

Altogether 23 Indonesian fishermen and fishing boat were seized by a naval warship in Myanmar’s sea areas on 6 February and handed over to authorities in Kawthoung on 7 February.

A naval warship led by Major Pyaw Sone Aung found a suspected boat with KM TROYA words that carries 23 fishermen. The boat is 62 feet long, 18 feet wide and it is a wooden body decorating with fiber.

The illegal fishing boat and fishermen were handed over to Fisheries Department and Immigration Department on 7 February.

The fishermen were temporarily detained at the Kawthoung Myoma Police Station. According to initial investigation, Mr. Zulfadi, helmsman and his follower Mr. Nuriadin said that they reside in ACEH TIMUR in Indonesia and they left Indonesia for fishing on 29 January and they illegally entered to the Myanmar’s sea area for fishing.
