As many as 590 illegal uncut jades were seized at Lawar checkpoint on Hpakant-Mogaung road, Hpakant Township, Kachin State on yesterday.
Acting on a tip off, officials from Kamine police station searched SKAT vehicle driven by Thant Zin Aung, 25 and seized 590 illegal uncut jades weighing 2,200 kilos in the car.
The local police station has filed charges against him under Section-42 (a) of the Myanmar Gems Law. –Ni Toe
