Homalin Bridge set to open to traffic on Jan. 14

A Chindwin River crossing bridge in Homalin Township, Sagaing Region is scheduled to be open to public on 14 January, according to an official from the Bridge Department under the Ministry of Construction.

 

The new bridge linking Homalin Township on east bank of the Chindwin River and Kattha village on west bank of the Chindwin River is located on the Homalin-Kattha-Aungzeya-Tamu road. The 2,763 ft. long bridge is mostly constructed from concrete and steel. It is also equipped with two walkways for pedestrians. Construction of the bridge began on 21 August 2016 and was completed on 31 December 2018 at a cost of Ks. 23.394 billion.

 

“The bridge named “Homalin Bridge” is aimed at improving socioeconomic status of the local people in the upper areas of Homalin Region and the border areas. Local people in the township will be able to travel to India with greater ease via Tamu Township.
