Myinmu, 9 January
Police are hunting for thieves who stole the heads of the Buddha images in the compound of a monastery in Padatdine Village, Myinmu Village in Sagaing Region on 7 January, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The heads of 28 Buddha images were stolen at around 5:30 p.m. on 7 January. The Buddha images with a radius of ranging from one to 2 ft. are preserved in the precinct of the Shwecedi Monastery. Local police officials rushed to the scene to assess the situation.
A probe has been launched to investigate into the case and the local police opened a file against the thieves, the ministry said.
