Haul of drugs worth Ks. 2.1 billion busted in Taungoo

A local anti-drug squad seized a massive haul of drugs during a car search in Taungoo, Bago Region on 1 July, reported by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

A combined team intercepted a car driven by a man named Thant Zin Ko, 33 years of age in front of No.3 Police Station in Taungoo at about 5:20 p.m. on 1 July. They discovered heroin weighing 18.7 kilograms, 47 kilograms of opium, Ks. 100,000, one motorbike and two mobile phones in the car. An estimated value of the confiscated drugs is about Ks. 2,100 million.

The motorist has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the local police station.—MOHA
