The Government of Myanmar supplied foodstuffs to the Myanmar migrant workers being quarantined because of coronavirus outbreak at a seafood market in Samut Sakhon Province, Thailand.
Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Myo Myint Than and officials handed over the foodstuffs provided by the government to the migrant workers on Saturday.
Officials from the Myanmar Embassy in Thailand, military attaché’s office and labour attaché’s office went to the Talaku seafood market in Samut Sakhon Province, and supplied 1,350 5kg-rice-bags, 1,350 1litre-oil-bottles, 1,350 500g-bean-bags, 1,350 15-egg-cartons, 1,350 boxes of packing 10 cans, and 9,450 6-litre bottles to 1,350 households of Myanmar migrant workers there.
Deputy Head of the Myanmar Embassy U San Oo Maung also led the officials from Myanmar Embassy in Thailand, and labour attaché’s office, together with the officials from Mahachai, to the Talaythai seafood market in Samut Sakhon Province and provided rice bags, cooking oil bottles, beans, eggs, canned foods and drinking water bottles to 360 households of Myanmar migrant workers there.
Officials from the Myanmar Embassy and labour attaché office in Bangkok have been in contact with the Myanmar migrant workers since 19 December when the Myanmar migrant workers were quarantined and have been providing necessary assistance.
The Government of Myanmar supplied the foodstuffs to the migrant workers for their convenience during the quarantine period, and also directed the Myanmar Embassy in Thailand to provide necessary assistance to the workers after contacting the Ministry of Labour in Thailand and the officials from the Samut Sakhon Province.
