G20 pledges efforts for battered tourism industry

Tourism ministers from G20 nations have pledged to join forces to help the sector recover, after it was devastated by the coronavirus pandemic.

The ministers held an emergency video conference on Wednesday.

A statement issued afterward says G20 members will introduce and lift travel restrictions in accordance with the international situation and conditions in individual countries.

It also says that members will share knowledge, experiences and good practices to improve response capabilities to uncertain and volatile crises.

They pledged to rebuild the trust of travelers.

The statement also says the G20 will support companies tackling the challenges they face during the outbreak and promote digitalization for small and mid-sized tourism operators.
