The fees for water throwing pandals which will be constructed in the Mandalay Walking Thingyan Festival Area will be reduced by half, according to the Mandalay City Development Committee.
Previous year, the pandals that will be set up at Walking Festival, south of Mandalay Moat was fixed K 1,000,000 for 10 feet wide, K 2,000,000 for 20 feet wide and K 3,000,000 for 30 feet wide. This year the price for the pandal will be reduced by half the previous price. In addition, arrangements are being made to set up the location for the pandal, said U Kyaw San Myint, member of the MCDC.
The price will be fixed from K 500,000 to K 1,500,000 according to its width. Previous year, a total of 54 water throwing pavilions were allowed together with Satuditha pavilions.
The Mandalay Walking Thingyan started in 2017, drawing a large number of revelers in the Thingyan Festival.
