Drugs seized in Lashio, Hopong, Ywangan Townships

A combined team comprising of police members from Anti-Drugs Squad intercepted a vehicle driven by Zaw Suat Aung(a)Manaw with Kun Ja Shaung on board for inspection on Muse-Lashio Road near a toll gate in Lashio Township on 4 January and seized heroin worth over K 305.6 million, 104000 stimulant tablets, K 90000 and a mobile phone from them.

In a similar incident, a combined team comprising of police members from Anti-Drugs Squad searched a motorbike driven by Thaung Shwe(a)Khun Maung  on Hopong-Loilem Road near Honamh Village in Hopong Township on 5 January and seized 28000 and a mobile phone from him.

Then, local authorities searched an unattended motorbike that stopped between 38/2 and 38/3 at Mile posts on Ywangan-Kyaukse Road in Ywangan Township and seized raw opium weighing 26.5 kilograms on the motorbike.

The authorities filed charges against all suspects under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.—MPF
