Drugs, handmade guns seized in house raid in Kawthoung

Police seized drugs and handmade guns in a search operation in Kawthoung Township, Taninthayi Region on Tuesday.


An anti-drug squad led by Police Sub-inspector Thet Naing Oo raided the hut of a man identified as The Lin Tun (alias) Thar Pain in a rubber plantation near 14th-mile village in Kawthoung Township on 8 January based on an anonymous tipoff. The hut owner fled the scene but the police found a man named Thet Min Thu (aka) Min Thu with 64 stimulant tablets, one gram of crystal methamphetamine (ICE) and one percussion lock firearm and one homemade gun in the hut.


Action has been taken against the hut owner who is still on the run and his colleague over possession of drugs and weapons under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the local police station.—Kyaw Soe (Kawthoung)
