CBM Governor meets Thai banks’ officials

Governor Daw Than Than Swe of the Central Bank of Myan­mar and officials from Siam Com­mercial Bank, Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank and Krung Thai Bank met yesterday morning at the meeting hall of the Yangon branch of the Central Bank of Myanmar.

 

They discussed further in­vestment of Thailand in Myan­mar, foreign currency banking services between Myanmar and Thailand, CBM’s established pol­icies to stabilize the foreign ex­change rate, remittances of trade and Myanmar migrant workers to be diverted from legal chan­nels instead of using illegal Hun­dis, facilitation of smooth delivery of the wages of expatriate Myan­mar workers in Thailand to their families, more investments from Thailand in Myanmar, education and health-related matters on Hundai’s actions to be cooper­ated by Thai banks, provision of financial support (pre-shipment export financing and post-ship­ment export financing) to further develop trade between Thailand and Myanmar, foreign exchange rates and the facilitation of for­eign currency transfers between the two countries.
