Above 12-year-old school children receive COVID jabs in Yangon Region

COVID-19 vaccines are being given to students aged 12 and over in basic education schools in Yangon Region, in line with the motto: “Let’s get vaccinated against COVID-19 for a healthy and happy life of education”.

 

Healthcare officials and Red Cross members gave the vaccines to students aged 12 and above from Bahan Township at No. 2 Basic Education High School, Kaba Aye Pagoda Road, Saya San Ward, Bahan Township yesterday.

 

Health officials measured the body temperature, blood pressure and monitoring oxygen level before the vaccination. Similarly, school students from No. 2 Basic Education High School in Dagon Township, No. 2 Basic Education High School in Kamayut Township, No. 2 and No. 3 Basic Education High Schools in Mingaladon Township received the COVID vaccines yesterday.

 

On the same day, school children from No. 1 Basic Education High School, primary and middle schools in Dala Township and Pyawbwe Township received the COVID-19 vaccines.

 

Hand-washing basins were also set up at the vaccination sites to prevent COVID-19 disease. Officials also distributed masks and face shields before the vaccination.

 

Next health officials measured the body temperature, blood pressure and monitoring oxygen level before the vaccination.

 

“Emergency medical care will be provided if needed, and students who come to be vaccinated will be treated for complications after the vaccination”, officials said.

 

“We have been monitoring for half an hour to find out if there are any health problems and to report everything immediately,” officials added.

 

After the vaccination, officials arranged school buses for the transportation of the school students.

 

Security was also provided by the fire brigade and the Myanmar police during the vaccination.

 

According to the school enrollment list in Yangon Region on 8 July, a total of 68,558 school students have been vaccinated for the first time, and the remaining 12-year-old students will be vaccinated against COVID-19 next, officials said. —Ko Ko Zaw.
