73 acres of poppy fields destroyed in Hopong, Panglong, Hsi Hseng, Mongsat, Kengtung Townships.

A combined team comprising policemen from Hopong Area Police Station destroyed six acres of poppy fields about two miles east of Panshang Village, Hopong Township on 18 December.

 

In a similar incident, police members removed 21.5 acres of poppy plantations about three miles Southeast of Heinsein Village, Panglong Township and 15 acres of poppy plantation about one mile west of Wapyung Village in Panglong Township.

 

Police members also wiped out 12 acres of poppy plantations in Panun Village, Hsi Hseng Township, 2.5 acres in Nalaung Village, one acre in Wonlung Village, 2.5 acres in Namon-1 Village and 1.5 acres in Kyatilung Village in Mongsat Township while authorities eradicated 11 acres of poppy plantations in Kengtung Township.—MPF
