600 migrant workers return from Thailand via Myawady border on 14 June

A total of 600 Myanmar migrant workers returned home through Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge (2) of Myawady border town in Kayin State yesterday.


Among them, 45 were handed over by Thailand’s Immigration Detention Center (IDC), and 555 persons returned home in their own arrangement from various parts of the kingdom with the approval of Myanmar embassy there.


On their arrival, Kayin State Hluttaw MP U Thant Zin Aung, District Administrator U Tay Zar Aung, Deputy District Administrator U Aung Chan Nyein, Township Administrator U Phyo Zaw Ko Ko and other local authorities helped the returnees with medical tests and other supplies.


Myanmar has been making systematic arrangement for the return of migrant workers from Thailand since 1 May.


A total of 27,502 Myanmar migrants arrived back home through this route until now.—Htein Lin Aung (IPRD)
