32nd mass cycling event held in Mandalay

The Myanmar Cycling Federation and the Mandalay Region Sports and Physical Education Department under the Ministry of Health and Sports jointly organized a mass cycling event in Mandalay this morning.

The activity is held with the attention of drawing public attention in cycling sports and promoting physical activities among the public. More than 170 amateur cyclists including Regional Chief Minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, Lower House lawmakers U Myo Naing and U Nyein Thit, regional legislator U Myint Aung Moe and Director of the Institute of Sports and Physical Education U Wai Zin, departmental officials and local people participated in the event that was 32nd  times during two years.

 

The bike race commenced at 5:30 am at a gathering point in front of the office of Mandalay City Development Committee with a starting pistol fired by Principal of the Institute of Sports and Physical Education U Myo Myint Aung. The benefactors donated Royal-D soft drinks to the participants who took part in a physical activity after the competition.

The mass cycling event is being held during the last week of every month as a community activity in Mandalay and every enthusiast regardless of race and religion can participate in the activity.—Tin Maung (Mandalay Sub-printing House)
