A second coordination meeting on the holding of Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan to celebrate the 2025 Myanmar Traditional Thingyan Festival was held at the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

Speaking at the event, Un­ion Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, in his ca­pacity as Chairman of the Or­ganizing Committee for Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan, said this year marks the third time that the Walking Thingyan festival has been organized in Nay Pyi Taw as part of Myanmar traditional Thingyan festival.

 

This year marks the third time that the Walking Thingyan Festival has been organized in Nay Pyi Taw as part of Myan­mar’s traditional Thingyan Festi­val. This year is the very first cel­ebration of Myanmar’s traditional Thingyan festival since UNESCO recognized it as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Therefore, it is expected to be a grand and meaningful festival.

 

All the ministries should participate in preparations like completion of pandals on time, food donation events, entertain­ment programmes, and system­atic participation of government employees and civilians knowing the essence of Myanmar culture as the international guests, dip­lomats, artistes, K-Pop singers from Korea will join the festival.

Vice-chairs of the commit­tee Union Minister U Tin Oo Lwin and Union Minister Khun Thant Zaw Htoo, secretary of the committee reported on the participation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture in Zone 1, regulatory supervision activities in Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan zones, security meas­ures and completed work plans.

 

Afterwards, the attendees coordinated the discussion re­garding the designated locations for pavilions, security measures, cleanliness, access to water, elec­tricity, regulatory matters and healthcare services. — MNA/ KTZH
