120 police officers being deployed during Naga New Year festival

Approximately 120 police officers were deployed during the traditional Naga New Year festival being celebrated in Leshi Township, Sagaing Region, said Police Col Hlaing Tint, Deputy Commander of the Sagaing regional police force.

 

“We deployed policemen to the grounds where traditional Naga New Year festival is being celebrated. We also conducted body search at entry and exit of the event to provide security, fire safety and mine clearance measures. Our intention is to ensure better security and order for local and foreign visitors and local people in order to hold the festival successfully, the senior police officer said.

 

Under the close supervision of the regional police force, security personnel have provided security for the festival since 10 January.—Win Oo (Zeyar Taing)
