1,168 Myanmar returnees arrive back home through Myawady border on 28 May

A total of 1,168 Myanmar citizens returned home from Thailand through Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge (2) of Myawady border town in Kayin State yesterday.


Among them, the 503 persons entered Myanmar by 24 buses under the arrangements of Thai government and Myanmar embassy, and the remaining 665 persons returned from different areas of the Kingdom on their own plans. Myanmar local officials helped them with medical tests and other supplies. Myanmar migrant workers have been repatriated from Thailand since 1 May, and a total of 7,779 persons have arrived back home until now.


The latest group of returnees included 51 from Kachin, 8 from Kayah, 127 from Kayin, 182 from Mon, 81 from Sagaing, 263 from Bago, 133 from Magway, 46 from Yangon, 75 from Mandalay, 25 from Nay Pyi Taw, 92 from Shan, 13 from Thaninthayi, 9 from Rakhine and 63 from Ayeyawady respectively.—Htein Lin Aung (IPRD)
