Slight earthquake strikes Phoungpyin Twsp

No immediate reports of damages or casualties were available following a slight earthquake which was recorded this afternoon, according to a source from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).


An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter inside Myanmar hit about 14 miles south of Phoungpyin Township, Sagaing Region. It was recorded at 10:36 a.m. on August 16 at a latitude of 24.06°N, and longitude of 94.81°E, with a depth of 89 kilometers and about 34 miles east-southeast of the Tamu seismological observatory, the DMH announced.
