Union Education Minister attends Education World Forum in London

Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi attended the Education World Forum in London, the United Kingdom, from 19 to 22 January.


The theme of the 2020 Education World Forum is One generation – what does it take to transform education?


At the forum, Education Minister of the United Kingdom Mr Gavin Williamson delivered an opening speech, followed by academics reading their research papers on education including difficulties and future cooperation on education sector.


During the visit, the Union Minister separately met with Mr Andrew Stephenson, Minister for Department for International Development-DFID, Ms Heather Wheeler, FCO Minister for Africa and Pacific, and MP Mr Panl Seully, Trade Envoy to South East Asia in the United Kingdom, and discussed matters related to UK’s cooperation on Myanmar’s education reform.


The Education Minister also attended the ASEAN Ministers Meeting led by Ms Michella Donlon, Minister for Children and Families of the United Kingdom. The title of the meeting is “Teacher Training and Soft & Employability Skill” and discussed matters related to education cooperation between the United Kingdom and ASEAN countries.


He also attended the Roundtable discussion on Higher Education in the United Kingdom and International Collaboration in Mobility and Exchange led by Mr Chris Skidmore, Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, and discussed matters related to higher education and research cooperation.


At Oxfordshire Teaching School Alliance in Oxford and Advance H.E and University of Greenwich in London, the Union Minister also met with the officials and discussed matters related to cooperation on training of teachers and higher education.


The Union Minister also met with Myanmar students and families studying in the UK at the Myanmar Embassy in London and encouraged them. — MNA(Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun )
