UEC holds preparatory meeting for 2020 General Election

Union Election Commission met with its sub-commissions from regions, states, and Union council area yesterday to discuss preparations for successful holding of the 2020 General Election as it has completed the voter-lists compilation process in 2019.

UEC Chairperson U Hla Thein presided over the meeting and explained the importance of accurate voter lists and collecting them into the computer system to prevent any loss, and instructed all the levels of commission to coordinate with political parties and civil organizations to help people check the voter lists.

The UEC is now collecting the number of constituencies for ethnic people with 0.1 per cent of the country’s population, and it will also publish the books with the updated laws, bylaws, and guidelines.

Chairperson U Hla Thein also explained the commission’s coordination with relevant organizations such as supplying office equipment to the sub-commissions.

The UEC’s Director-General presented the voter-lists compilation processes, followed by the discussions of officials from sub-commissions. —MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
